Kwon Sang-woo


Kwon Sang-woo was born on 5th of August, 1976 at Daejeon in South Korea is one of famous South Korean actor. Prior to acting, he worked as a model.
Kwon was made known to Asian countries through his popular movie,
My Tutor Friend (2003), but it was his character as Cha Song Joo in Stairway to Heaven alongside Choi Ji Woo that boosted his popularity, especially in Asian countries, as Stairway to Heaven was amongst the most popular Korean dramas in the Asian region. Another popular role was in Once Upon a Time in High School, set in the 1970s, highlighting the authoritarian nature of Korean society at the time. He also majored in applied mathematics at Seoul University but dropped out to pursue his acting career.
In 2004, Kwon starred in a film,
Love, So Divine, as a Catholic priest. In an interview, Kwon confided that his mother was a Roman Catholic, and was encouraged by his friends to receive baptism. Kwon also revealed that his mother was helping him to study the Christian faith.

- WAU -


Wau-making is an ancient art inherited from the Melaka court who popularised the kite-flying sport. The art/skill is usually passed down from father to son. Kite-making requires tremendous skill and patience. First, they use split bamboo to make the frame of the kite. Then they cover the frame with tinted, shiny glazed paper. Intricate floral cutouts and designs are delicately pasted on this paper until the wau is ready for its final decoration of bright paper tassels. A bow-shaped device is attched to the neck of the kite - this will provide a pleasant, high-pitched humming sound when the kite is flown on the sky.
Wau-making has become a declining art in the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Occasionally, you may see small wau-making activities along the road of villages, but they are not as prevalent as they were two decades ago. Traditionally, after the harvesting of padi, the people will rejoice and take part in kite-flying sport, when farmers have spare time to decorate and fly these waus. Today, this event also happens in conjunction with the royal birthday celebrations. Kite flying competitions are often held in Terengganu and Kelantan state. The person who posses wau that is superior in design and flying height will be the winner.

A pet is an animal kept for companionship and enjoyment or a househeld animal, as opposed to livestock, laboratory animals, working animals or sport animals, which are kept for economic reasons. The most popular pets are noted for their loyal or playful characteristics, for their attractive appearance, or for their song. Pets also generally seem to provide their owners with non-trivial health benefits; keeping pets has been shown to help relieve stress to those who like having animals around. There is now a medically-approved class of "therapy animals," mostly dogs, who are brought to visit confined humans. Walking a dog can provide both the owner and the dog with exercise, fresh air, and social interaction.

Akashi Kaikyo


Japan greatest engineering feet, Akashi Kaikyo, is a landmark in the history of bridges. It is world’s largest suspension bridge that has a record main span of 1991 meters. It took 10 years of hardcore struggle to get to build this excellent piece of engineering and April 5, 1998 was the day when it was officially inaugurated.
The other name for Akashi Kaikyo is pearl bridge that very well suits the concept. In comparison with other bridges, it is by far the most magnificent piece of architecture. Being constructed in 110 meter- deep water with tidal current of 4.5 meters per second, it was quiet challenging. Moreover, wind speed of 80 meters per second was a lot more to bear for the bridge. All these and earthquake of 8.5 magnitude at rector scale, were well kept in mind to form a safe and secured base for this bridge.
The name Akashi Kaikyo is derived from the geological site of the bridge. Basically, the site includes layered alluvium and diluvium deposits over what is called Akashi or Kobe layer. Getting onto its features would definitely provide you a man-made miracle. The main span being 1990 meters is supported by two side spans of 960 meters each. This bridge links city of Kobe with Awaji-Shima Island with a record length of 3,911 meters.
However, the construction of such a massive structure was not a child’s play. It took 2 million workers, 10 years, 181000 tonnes of steel, and 1.4 million cubic meters of concrete and whole lot of expert’s brain to have the way it is. Akashi Kaikyo has six lanes witnessing millions of people passing thereby.

Construction of Akashi Kaikyo was a challenge for engineers. To bear the fast swirling tidal currents in the narrow strait the foundations were securely laid in 60 ft under water, on the seabed. To do this, huge steel cylinder with a diameter of about 80 meter, stretching its height to 70 meters was sunk to the bottom of sea. It was through this cylinder, concrete was poured to form a solid base for this heavy, massive structure.
Also, this structure was designed and tested in a large-scale wind tunnel to ensure that it will withstand with the wind flows and water currents including massive earthquakes.

Creative Media Award

Petaling Jaya : Good news to those who are participate in Creative Media Award competition for this year because the new date for submission is Oct 31.

The postponement may also allow even more students to participate in the competition that offers attractive prizes, comprising scholarships and computer peripherals worth more than RM300,000.

electric car


Opel’s Flextreme concept car, which makes its premiere at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt (September 13 – 23, 2007), boasts the body of a dynamic monocab, as well as the completely new environmentally friendly E-Flex electric propulsion concept and a host of innovative details. In contrast to conventional vehicles and hybrids, GM’s E-Flex system uses an electric motor, powered by a lithium-ion battery, to propel the Opel Flextreme concept for up to 55 km of electric-drive-only range. A 1.3 turbo-diesel onboard engine generates additional electricity to replenish the battery and extend the vehicle’s driving range fully charged, the Flextreme’s 55-km all-electric driving range is enough for most daily commuters in Europe to travel without using any diesel fuel or emitting any CO2.
